esxi free best processor configuration

good morning

i have installed esxi free licence in a server hp with 2 processor xeon e5530

every processors have 4 cores so i  have 16 logical processors

what is the best configuration for my virtual machine ?

i ask this because i i try to set any virtual machine over 4 vitual processors i view that i can set 4 way virtual smp max

is thos a limited of free edition ?

in this mode i use only a socked ?

Just assign the minimum amount of vCPUs to begin with and increase the amount as required.  If you are running an OS that supports hot-add then you can add CPU resources without an outage.

4 vCPUs is the maximum for the free version, but I doubt you would need more than this.  In fact with 4 core CPUs you wouldn't assign more then 4vCPUs even if you were licensed to do so.

Also ignore logical processors.  When you assign a vCPU it assigns a physical core.

if i assign 4 vcpu ( max of the free version) to one virtual machine

where i have 2 fisical cpu socked quad core

this vitual machine use anyway every second fisical cpu or i must set esxi for enable the use of second fisical socked ?
