esxi 5 update 1

Hello, thanks for reading my question.

I have esxi 5 free version. symantec backup exec 12.5 sp4 was able to take snapshot backup using vcb.

I applied esxi 5 update 1 and the snapshot backup is not working.

error:

an error was encountered while attempting to browse contents of "servername"

cannot read the virtual machines and templates view on the virtualcenter server

vsphere client events says user root logged in while the backup exec is trying to browse the server and user root logged out throwing the error above.

any ideas why this would happen after update 1?

thanks in advance.

Hi helltejas, thanks for your reply. I checked it is using local system account.

Anyway my question is about snapshot backup not windows file / folder backups.

the backup exec 12.5 is able to login to the windows server on the esxi 5 host and backup are fine.

the snapshot is to backup the whole virtual machine to restore in case the esxi 5 host crashes.

the snapshot backup was working fine before the esxi 5 update 1.

the backup exec server is able to connect to the esxi 5 host and logging in but can't browse to show the available virtual machines.

thanks.

Are you able to ask symantec about support of esxi5 u1 and the snapshot feature in backup exec?

frank, no at the momement no support with symantec. I found a document after googling on how to uninstall update 1 from esxi 5. It says press Shift+r while the vmware is booting. I think at the moment this might be the temporary solution to bring back the esxi 5 prior to update 1 and hope the snapshot backup will work again.

any other ideas?

Not at the moment. Maybe you can contact support to ask if it's possible or if there is a workaround for this product. Or when u1 will be supported.

Sorry
