esxi 5 build 474610 management network not started after reboot

Hi,

I installed my first esxi 5 server.

I'm experiencing a problem when I reboot the server, I can not connect to the server.

When I then restart the management network I can connect to the server.

I suppose the management network wasn't started?

Am I missing something here?

Thanks for the help.

Best regards,

JB

Have a server with multiple NIC?

Yes the server has multiple nic's.

2 quad port intel 82571EB gigabit ethernet controllers and an onboard broadcom netxtreme II BMCCM5708.

The management network is on the intel nic's.

Best regards.

A first test can be create a second Management Network on another NIC.
After this, can you verify the L2 connection? (arp-ping switch/server)

i just tested with the management network on a different nic.

That didn't solve my problem.

It seems it has something to do with my vswitch config.

I use the standard vswitches.

I have one switch for the management network and vmotion.

I have a dedicated nic for the vmotion traffic, which I set as disabled on the vswitch config and override for the vmotion portgroup.

When I changed that disabled nic on the vswith to standby then the management network is available.

The strange this is though that when I restart the management network with the vmotion nic as disabled then the management network starts working.

Best regards,

JB
