Hi guys,
i have esxi 5 enterprise plus with 3 host (2x FJTS and 1x DELL) and about 36 CPU, 0,6 TB RAM and 18 datastores.
Today on 2 VM - 2008 R2 and 2012 R2 - was very slow, but CPU, RAM and disk response was OK.
But, help me only one thing, migrate VM to another Host and performance was OK...
do you have any advice for this problem? i´m solved this about 10 times for 6 months, but VM are each other.
thx for responce
Hi,
basically you will need to troubleshoot this a little deeper.
When you have the issue you can use esxtop to see if you have some contention on ressources. i.e disk latency etc..
VMware KB: Troubleshooting ESX/ESXi virtual machine performance issues
also one thing is to look at the logs ( if it is tied to a host, you can look at hostd, vmkernel, vodb and vpxa ).
Next time you have the issue, create a log bundle for the host where the VM was located right away and check the logs for error, if needed you can enable trivia mode for a short period of time to get more informations.
hope this helps.

Hi
Did you ever find a solution on this? I have a similar problem ![]()
When the VM has poor CPU performance, i can migrate it to another ESX in the cluster, the CPU performance is back to normal. If I imediatly migrate it back to the first ESX again, it is still ok. :smileyconfused:
I am running newest build ESX 5.5 (2718055)
Hardware is IBM x3850X6 (with 4 * 10 core E7-8891V2 CPU) and 1.5TB RAM

Have you checked the CPU Ready time while this was happening? It is possible that your CPU cores / NUMA nodes (if the vCPUs span across) were getting overcomitted.
the problem I described in my environment does not occur already 1-2 months, it's funny, I do not know what it can be. Soon I'll upgrade ESXi 6.0 guests
So I'll Know
