esxi 5.1 : enabling Database Retention Policy after years...

Hello everybody,

Yes we have discovered that our legacy vcenter 5.1 is collecting data since... the beginning (at least 2011). That's 60 to 80 GB of data.

We would like to enable retention to stop the growth.

If we enable "Configure Database Retention Policy" and set the 180 day default values (more than enough for us), what will happen ?

Will all the "old" data get purged (a bit concerned with IO there) or will something else happen ?

yes.. this setting will make sure only data for the specified amount of days is retained and the older data is purged.

this shall include the performance stats and the old tasks/events.

check the below link.

there should be no IO-related issues... atleast I have not heard any..
