esxi 4.1 export to OVF - disk space?

Hi,

I want to do a export of multiple machines. However I am concerned about how much disk space it will take on local storage.

If I have a virtual disk that is configured in VMWare as 50GB will it export the whole lot flat or will it optomize. Lets say I am only using

1GB in windows as an example will it only export the space that is used on the disk (1GB) or will I get a 50GB ovf file?

Also what would happen for linux VMs?
