What is dvswitch? What is its use and how will it work? Do all environments use dvswitch?
Thanks,
Prashant
dvswitch means distributed virtual switch. You need to be running atleast ESX 4 to use this feature and you need to have enterprise plus license. Basically its one centerlized switch to which all yveou ESX hosts in th cluster connect. You do not need to create inidividual standard switch on each host if you ha vDS.

From your questions in the forum it looks like you are really interested in this whole topic. I'd recommend you set a bookmark to vSphere 5.0 Documentation Center where you can find answers to almost every topic.
For the dvSwitch, search for Distributed Virtual Switch.

I agree with a.p. , for now, your best course of action is to start reading up on the Documentation Set.
Posting questions about different feature sets can get a bit cumbersome for you to understand when you have answers coming from a bunch of different open forum threads

dvswitch provides us a feature to centralizes the switch configuration from vcenter. The ESX/ESXi 4.xand ESXi 5.x hosts that belong to a dvSwitch do not need further configuration to be compliant.
refer below link for more details on dvswitch:

offcourse it can be used on all environment, but you shouldl have enterprise plus license for ESXI and vcenter license.
for standalone esxi its not required.
see the bussiness requirement most of them wont use because they wont have enterprise plus license.
sure troy., i will do that.
