Hi guys,
I'm using ESXi 4.1 and I've created a dvSwitch and VMkernel Port Group for use with VMotion. It's been assigned with an IP address and the VMotion box has been ticked and works a treat. However, if I reboot the ESXi host the VMotion option is no longer selected and will not work until it is selected again.
One thing I've noticed is that if I configure the dvSwitch, test VMotion and create a Host Profile from the host and check it's compliance on the same host it was created from, it will state that the selected options are not enabled on the dvSwitch such as VMotion etc when they are. It's like the options are are not being saved to the host configuration.
Something is up and I'm not sure what the issue could be. I've recreated the dvSwitches and it's the same. I'm having this same issue on all four hosts in the cluster.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you...
BlackMesa.
I've just tried using standard vSwitches and the same thing happens. As soon as I reboot the box, any options I've selected such as vMotion or FT are no longer selected.
Does anyone have any suggestions please? I'll log a support call this morning and see what VMware find. Thank you.
Regards,
BlackMesa.
I'm having this same issue. Did you ever find a solution?
The problem is down to certain licensing information being lost after reboots. Specifically, it was the Dell customised ESXi image that was pre-installed at the factory. The latest version on the rescue disc from the Dell website mentions this and fixes the problem. Hope that helps!
