disable root login @ console in ESXi 4.1

Hi,

I am using ESXi 4.1 and was trying to disable root login at the console while allowing other users to login. I looked at the vSphere 4.1 hardeining guide and it says something about /etc/securetty.

I followed the steps but that does not work.

Any suggestions on how to get this working?

Thanks

You can enable AD authentication for ESXi 4.1 hosts. I would just do this and then set the root password to be something extremely long and complex then record it in the password database.

That wont really work for me. I do not want to enable AD, just hide the root account and force use of a seperate non root account.

Is there no way to do this?
