dell's current esxi 6.0 U3 using free/unpaid license

Now on "my" dell pe r630 I have ESXi 6.0.0, 3620759 (update 2) installed.

Key is free/unpaid.

Can I use newer version provided by dell, for example:

VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.0.0.update03-5572656.x86_64-DellEMC_Customized-A04.iso

with the same free key ?

TIA.

Hi,

yes. The keys are valid for the Major Version, so you can use any 6.X version

Technically speaking, with free license the latest available ESXi version is 6.0U2.

I doubt that it's possible to download any custom image from my.vmware.com having only free license ESXi.

It will be intresting if you can do that.

I have already downloaded iso (filename in my previous post) from dell, see:

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en/en/pldhs1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=88KT2

but haven't tried it yet, btw, this can be easily googled:

VMware ESXi 6.0 U3 This is Dell Customized Image of VMware ESXi 6.0 U3 Dell Version: A04, Build# 5572656

Dell page proposed this when I entered service tag and choose ESXi as OS.

Thank You. If so i will be really happy.

Buying support for my employer is nothing in financial terms

but amount of paperwork (and worse - nagging) to do so scares me.

I will report if I succeed,

but do not know when

- it hosts most important guest os.

I must prepare few things or face heart attacks and worse :smileycool:
