datastore lost after adaptec firmwareupdate

Hi,

I have updated the firmware of my adaptec 71605. after reboot all my guests are showing /vmfs/volume/blabla

I found VMware Datastore missing after driver update and reboot witch point to vSphere handling of LUNs detected as snapshot LUNs (1011387) | VMware KB

here it say just add the datastores again....

so far so bad... I can do this only for 3 out of 4 datastore my "IntelSSDR1data" is not showing up in the list to add.. the adaptec raidtool say all my 4 arrays are good and online

[root@lowpoweresxi:~] esxcli storage vmfs snapshot list

Hi and welcome to the community!

Not sure I am going to be much help but I'll try to get you going until continuum swings by Smiley Wink

From what I gather you have been able to persistently mount 3 of the 4 volumes by running the esxcli storage vmfs snapshot mount command. When running the list command you don't get the 4th volume. Can you confirm how the VMFS volumes were configured before the firmware upgrade, i.e. were they individual VMFS stores or was a VMFS volume made up of extents?

If you could also run esxcli storage vmfs extent list and post the results that would be appreciated.

Now I'm not recommending that you try what it listed in the following post, take a look at this and see if it matches your particular problem: Please help: extent missing from datastore

Kind regards.

Hi ThompsG,

Thanks for your reply.

I dot think I have done something with extends but I would not burn my hand for this.. like always in the IT... everything is only 99% sure Smiley Happy

I'm also not sure if I was able to mount them persistently..last reboot they are again gone but I could mount them again without troubles. for the moment I'm more scared about not seeing the 4th disk at all

[root@lowpoweresxi:~] esxcli storage vmfs extent list

Volume Name     VMFS UUID                            Extent Number  Device Name           Partition

--------------  -----------------------------------  -------------  --------------------  ---------

IntelSSDR1boot  5621369e-ce7f03a6-0c14-001e67c0eb6f              0  eui.afd9954900d00000          3

HitachiR6data   5636599a-ec393a50-e673-001e67c0eb6f              0  eui.b0655a3500d00000          1

SamsungR5data   564888b6-dad30975-b86a-001e67c0eb6f              0  eui.3069235000d00000          1

[root@lowpoweresxi:~]

I also checked with gparted bootCD.. the disk is there I see my 100G partition so it looks like only esx for some reason dont like it

logs:

I also tried with esx boot usb stick but this also show me only 3 disks +usbstick and my 2nd SSD datastore is not visible
