Currently getting analysis paralysis in speccing out an esxi host.  In short, what is better? :

vs

We are an HP shop and these are the two highest performing 6-core procs for the 360g7 and g8 lines.  I find it odd that the newer generation is cheaper so am wondering if I'll be seeing any lessened performance.

Thanks,

Jaime

Jaime, don't burn too many brain cells on CPU selection.  You stated that these are both high performing hexa-core CPU's.  With that said, pick the cheaper (as long as it is vmware approved - HCL) and go have a beer.  Smiley Happy

In my experience, CPU is not something to spend a lot of time fretting over as they rarely break a sweat in a vmware environment.
