convert standalone servers in 4.0.1build-161434 are critical different using windows version with using linux version

i installed 2 VMware vCenter Convert Standalone Server in 4.0.1build-161434. one is on Windows OS and one is on Linux OS . p2v works very well on Linux OS . However , it lacks of one function item "Select volumes to copy" in linux version (attached those 2 snapshot pics ) and only runs in "copy all disks and maintain layout" . dont know when this v2v can add this function item in Linux version?

As is written at page 46 of http://www.vmware.com/pdf/converter_standalone_guide401.pdf:

For Linux hosts, you can perform only disk-based cloning.

But you can use LVM inside Linux or connect other disk and make a simple copy from old disk to new disk with the new.

If the disk is the boot disk, you have also to fix the boot loader.

Hi Andre,

"For Linux hosts, you can perform only disk-based cloning." in Page 46 means it is Linux Source/Target host or VM , doesn't it ? +

Back to this discussion , I'm trying to convert a VM (windows 2003, not Linux host ) with small size in c: into another VM ( windows 2003) with a larger size in C: by using convert tools in 2 versions - windows/linux . The same operation by using Linux version convert tool , which converts a Windows VM , does not have "Select volumes to copy" function as by using Windows version convert tool .

thanks

Michael

Linux VM

The same operation by using Linux version convert tool , which converts a Windows VM , does not have "Select volumes to copy" function as by using Windows version convert tool .

You must use Converter on a Windows system.

Or simple power-off the VM, increase the vmdk size, power-on, and use Dell extpart tool to extend the C: volume.
