Hi,
we have ESXi 4 where all the vm m/c hosted are hardware version 7 and we have other ESXi5 where all vm m/c are on hardware version 8.
there is need we want some of vm m/c which are on hardware version 8 need to be hosted by ESXi 4 which are on hardware version 7.
i check on vmware site and community.so the prefer way is to use standalone 5 convertor to do this whic his as good as V2V.
i was have query suppose my vm m/c which is on hardware 8 can i do just vmkfstool -i do the clone of the vmdk which is on version 8 and then move this
vmd at ESXi 4. once moved this clone vmdk i will run the wizard for creation of other supporting file and link this clone hd with new vm m/c which will
be created on ESXi4.Just want to confirm is this correct way or do still hardware version mismatch will be there.
also we tried to do ova ovf of vm m/c from ESXi5 to ESXi4 but this fail complaining of this mismatch of hardware version.
