configure vsphere switches

Greetings,

We have two dell r520 server and an md3200i storage array attached by iscsi. 4 Ethernet ports per server.

On the storage array we created two VM partitions for the two server and loaded VMware on both partitions. We are able to boot off the storage array via ISCSI and now on the vsphere client trying to configure networking. I would like to assign 4 ports per server to talk with the storage array, however if I specify more then 1 port for the vswitch it is prompting me for an ip address to assign? Can someone explain the architecture of how this should be done?

I think you are trying to create multiple vmkernel port groups , if you create vmkernel port groups then you have to specific IP details for individual port groups, if your requirement is to have 4 physical nic cards for single port group then create a single vmkernel port group having 4 physical adapters attached to it at vswitch level. Configure nic teaming as per requirement.

you can add all 4 network card to your vswitch

but i always create multiple vmkernel ports vor iscsi multipathing
