clone vm failed

Hi all,

I have an ESXI 4, with a 300 Gio datastore and 150 Gio free space.

I need to clone one of the vm hosted on this server. It has a 20 Gio flat disk totally provisionned.

This task is made with a converter. When the conversion starts, the disk cloning task stops immediately with a Filed to clone disk 0 in the log highlights and unable to connect to the virtual disk in the status.

I have been able to start a conversion by setting the disk copy parameter to thin and 4.63 Gio ( the acvtual amount of data inthe disk ).

I can convert it to by starting the guest and using a P2V conversion with the converter.

A few days ago the datastore was full, but I removed some VM by using the delete from disk option of the sphere client.

I don't understand what happens with this, I must be missing something but don't know what.

Does someone has any clues ?

Regards,

You mentioned that you have 150 GB Free space on the Datastore where you want to create the cloned VM (Destination datastore)

How much disk space is there on the datastore where the orignal VM resides (Source VM)

Hello,

I forgot to mention this, it's the same one ...

I try to clone a VM from a server to itself.
