change physical RAM on host

Are any configuration changes needed when modifying the phsical RAM on ESXI  hosts? The customer has asked to upgrade from 72GB on each host to 96GB. Does the ESXI host and Vcenter automatically detect the update?

Nothing special, host and vCenter server will automatically detect the changes.

Its very easy, just shut down the host and add the additional/new RAM and when you reboot the host ESXi will recognize it

OR

what  you can do is that Just put the system in VMware Maintenance Mode,  VMotion the VMs to another host power down the host and add the  additional RAM  to the host.Power the host back on and you'll see you  have more memory now.
