cant create data storege

Ill trayin to virtualize some desktop and maybe som servers if this works as i hope Smiley Happy

Ill trying to evaluate ESXi5 on my test server HP Proliant DL380 G5 the issue is when i about to creare the data storage to begin creating my virtual machines i have two RAID on my seerver, i let 68.3 GB with the OS win server 2008,  and 195GB free for my space to create data storage.

I install ESXi5 on external usb hard drive, no avoid damage my original SO server,  so i boot from USB and start ESXi5

the problem is when i go to create datastorage  i select my 196Gb "partition" and suddenly everything gets freeze  and disconectme  from my vmwhare client. :smileyshocked:

if i select the other 68.3 GB  (where is my Win server 2008 installed)  dont get frezze or disconect but i dont wanna erease o fromat my Server windows operative system.

Am i doing something worng or is some kind o incompatibility?:smileyconfused:

(See attach)

Thanks in advance.

its clearly showing patition format as MBR. See if you have formated/created volumes( remaining) using windows then it wouldn't be letting you to create vmfs volumes. Do one thing delete the partition of the required size how much you would need for your esxi box and then try to scan and create datastore.

its kind diferent from NTFS & MBR,  so in general terms,  do i must start with a space unformated, and ESXi recognize that unformated space, then format trhu esxi and create datastore?
