Hi
One of our VM migrated from ESX4.0 to ESXi5.0 failed to be remediated (tools + hardware).
The snapshot is still there and I cannot remove it. It fails with the following error "another task is already in progress"
The failed remediate job took place 18hours ago, so not sure why it would not have finished by now (it normally takes me a couple of minutes to remove the snapshot of a VM remediated).
In ESX4.0, in the same situation I would run the 'service mgmt-vmware restart' to unlock the situation, but that command is no longer available on ESXi 5.0.
What would be the proper steps in order to delete the snaptop, without killing the VM or the host itself?
Thanks
For ESXi to restart the management services, run
/sbin/services.sh restart
or restart the services from the DCUI (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003490)

You could check first whether is there any snapshot task running at the background #vim-cmd hostsvc/task_list
Thanks Andre
I was able to restart the agent and then remove the snapshot
Thanks Athlon
I did not read your message until I restarted the agent and remove the snapshot but I will keep your command handy for future use
