blu ray compatibility

Hello

we would like to backup from a VM SBS2008 onto blu ray.

The vm is running on esxi 5.0.

Is it possible to connect an SATA bly ray?

Or maybe better an USB blu ray burner?

Has anyone any experiences with this configuration?

No experience of this myself but you should be able to use DirectPath I/O so that your VM connects directly to the Blu-ray drive SATA or USB that is plugged into your ESXi host.

Hello

the vsphere console states, that directPath I/O is not supported by the hardware of the host. Any idea how to bypass this?

Here are the requirements for DirectPath:

  • Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d)

  • AMD IP Virtualization Technology (IOMMU)

  • Devices must be connected to the host and marked available for pass through

  • VMs require hardware version 7
