have a quick question...
I am planning to deploy a new SQL server on VMWARE 5.1 with super 3PAR storage (I am not VMWARE administrator, just an occasional driver).
I will have d,e,f partitions for DATA, Logs, Backup. Does it make sense to create a rtual disk for each partition instead of creating 3 partitions on one disk from performance perspectives of VMWare - 3PAR?
Thanks.
I will recommend you create three virtual disks, cause this way you can easily put each virtual disk in a different Tier.
Using a single virtual disk for all three partitions, you cannot give different tier for each partition... anyway if your storage supports some tiering at block level, the storage will move the hot blocks of vmdk to a best tier.

Thanks! Will ask my colleague about TIERING of our storage Monday just to have more info about storage after your tips...
