esxcfg-nics -l to display network card name, vmnic1=pnic etc.

esxcfg-vswitch --link=pnic vSwitchx x=whichever vswitch your service console port group is on

esxcfg-vswif use this if you need to re IP

what message are you getting when trying to get to the homepage of your ESX host with your browser, and what error when trying to access it directly using the vSphere4 Client?

You can ping the host from whever you are launching the browser and client?

vSphere could not connect with vcenter server ipaddress

from this error it appears you are tying to connect to your vCenter Server, not the ESX Host. Are you sure you have the correct IP for your vCenter host?
