Try to restart the management agents on the host. See http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003490

Are you adding the host by IP address or DNS name. If the latter, make sure the host is able resolve the DNS name of vCenter Server and vice versa.

Hi Andre'

i used the IP address and from the vCenter server i could ping it, i get the bellow error where the datacenter name is QIMC, domain is qimco.qa, vCenter name is vCenter

Call "Datacenter.QueryConnectionInfo" for object "QIMC" on vCenter Server "vSphere.qimco.qa" failed.

... on vCenter Server "vSphere.qimco.qa"

Just to make sure. Is this a typo?

This error message is documented here:

Adding an ESX/ESXi host to the vCenter Server inventory fails with the error: Call "datacenter.query...

It looks like there is a problem with DNS. Are you sure that the IP address you are using really belongs to the ESXi host that you are trying to connect?

Referring to the KB article:

- Have you configured lockdown mode on the ESXi host?

- Might network latency be an issue?

Can you please post the relevant lines from vxpd.log?

What I mean are the two different names for your vCenter Server.
