Windows Server 2008 x64 - Update and Install goes VERY slow. Remote desktop - slow!

I had a server before, MUCH weaker than the current one! It was 1.6GHz, 2 cores. This is 2.8GHZ 4 cores. Windows Was installed directly. NO VMware!

Well I have ESXi installed on the 2.6GHz.

I click the ESXi server IP in the vClient, and click Summary - and the Memory usage says 800MB. I do NOT have any VM's running!

Also, Windows Server 2008 runs very slow!

It starting to install updates, maybe 2 or 3 hours later, it is at 94%. It should have been done in seconds - my 1.6GHz server was.

What is wrong?

I see some of the CPU power, and it stops at 2.7GHz and cannot use more than that!

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Four CPU's were maxed out, just download an update to the oprating system.

What's wrong?

I have found the VM console to a Server 2008 R2 (only comes in x64)  to be very sluggish, however on the RDP its perfect.
Not an answer to you question but if anyone else has slow VM consoles i'd like to know.

We use Dell R900 systems with more than enough CPU and RAM for all guests. Its not hardware in my eyes.

I have a lot of Windows 2008 R2 and they also were sluggish but that was because of the VGA driver. Once updated the console is good

I noticed that as well.

I'm using Remote Desktop right now, and it's sluggish..

The internet is fast, I just checked.

I believe it's something due to the resources with Vmware esxi.

I still need help!

I want to clear up the resource allocation subject.

I'm a bit confused, because I have resource allocation and system resource allocation..

That may be why it is running sluggish.

I can provide pictures..

Do you have limits set on memory or CPU?

No, I see literally 4 spots where I can manage the CPU and RAM, but what does it all mean?

Under the Windows Server 2008 on vClient, the resource allocation says

Host

Consumed 2.9GHz. Now 1.08GHz

It's like a very small block and it says out of 11333MHz.

Now consumed 3.77GHz.

No 2.76GHz.

The reservation says 2.73GHz. Limit is unlimited.

Shares High (8000)

The RAM

Host Consumed 2.87 out of 4GB

Guest memory 3.36GB out of 4GB

Reservation 0MB

Limit Unlimited

Configured 4.00GB

Shared High (81920)

Reservation 271.00MB

right click on VM and select Edit Settings. Select the Resources tab and check CPU and Memory. Is the Unlimited box checked?

Yes, it is. Sorry I put 'No it isn't' before.

The Shares are at high (8000)

Reservation is at 2.73GHz, and it's unlimited. Should I higher the reservation?

Sorry, it actually was checked. I didn't even look at the checkbox before.

IT's checked.

Limit based on current host or resource pool.

It knows it has 11333Mhz of processor speed, but I choose that and it says
Call "HostSystem.UpdateSystemResources" for object "browe1" on ESXi "208.141.68.31" failed.
