Windows Blue screen when booting up

ESX 6.0

Windows 2012 R2

Netbackup Instant Recovery

During boot the Windows VM fails to boot with error 0x000000E4 (Screenshot below)

No antivirus software installed in Windows VM.

How do I troubleshoot this failure?

What is root cause of boot failure?

Can you replicate the error then post your vmware.log file for this VM? You will usually find it in the datastore that the VM is stored in (VM home directory where the .VMX file is)

Are you able to restore your system state at boot?

Have you installed something recently?

Its usually caused by faulty driver. Are you able to boot the OS in safe mode with networking? If so you can try to update some drivers via the device manager.

Definitely try some of the other suggestions here, I don't see anything strange in the logs so this is probably a OS level issue

possibly it is linked to the last changes that you had made before reboot, like any new software installation which is having some compatibility issues etc
