Windows 7 freezes on startup

ESX 4.0.0, 164009

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit

I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate and everything seemed to go fine. I then disabled IP v6 and assigned a static ip address for Ip v4. I've rebooted the guest and it now just sites there at the 'Starting Windows' screen forever. I'm aware of the problem with the SVGA driver and have already uninstalled that.

Anyone seem something similar or have any ideas? So far, Windows 7 seems a little flaky on ESX 4.

TIA

You appear to be running ESX4 without Update 1( Update 1 build is VMware ESX 4.0 Update 1(Build 208167) )

I run update 1 and have no problems with Windows 7 as a guest. I would suggest updating your ESX host to a supported version for Windows 7 guests.

Thanks for your reply - I plan to install update 1 soon.

The guest machine did eventuall boot up and it appears to be working ok at the moment although it is a bit sluggish.
