Windows 7 Enterprise x64 as Guest OS -- request for drivers at install start

What drivers is it looking for and where can I supply them?

I'm not sure what driver its looking for; I've tried this both on ESXi4 and Workstation 6.5.3 with all the possible disk options. Mounting the VMWare tools image doesn't help, the installer doesn't find drivers there.

Windows 7 Enterprise x32 isn't a problem, that works just fine.

Which Virtual storage controller are you using on the VM. Also, are you using the VMXNET3 adapter? Can you maybe add a screenshot to the post?

When I said "all possible disk options" I meant IDE and both LSI Logic SCSI options.

I'm mostly curious if anyone has this working, what the gimmick is if any or if there's an off chance my DVD is bad.

For laughs I tried the same non-working Win7 VM using a Win Server 2008 R2 x64 install, and that install works fine without any issues, which really makes me question whether my install media is borked.
