I just noticed that in the VMware Guest OS Compatibility Guide for Microsoft Windows 10 (32bit or 64bit) on ESXi (5.5 or 6.0), VMware is recommending the e1000e virtual NIC instead of the VMXNET3 virtual NIC! I cannot recall a time that VMware did not recommended the VMXNET3 and I cannot find any documentation or blog posts that explain this.
Anyone know why?
The emulated LSI SAS controller is also recommended. Feels like they're not fully complete on the testing on the paravirt drivers for Windows 10 RTM so the "safe" bet for supportability is to use the OOB MS drivers and rely on emulation...
I have Windows 10 running on ESXi 5.5 with the VMXNET3 and it's working fine.
Hi theire,
i use for all Windows VM
- vmxnet3
- pvscsi
Works good for me
Best regards
