Windows 10 guest clone customization error

Hi,

i try to customize my Windows 10 Enterprise for Horizon View 6.2.1.

If i try to use the guest OS customization for windows 10 which i create i alway get the error:

OS: windows9guest

The customization of the guest OS is not supportet in this configuration...

The Esxi ist 5.5 U3 Updates from december.Vcenter is 5.5.0

any Ideas?

Hi ThompsG,

the build number is 5.5.0, 2646482.

the Esxi Server runs under 5.5.0, 3116895

Hi there,

Sorry I got side tracked for a while.

Can you do me a favour change the Guest OS Version to "Microsoft Windows 8 (64 or 32 bit)" and see if you get the same error? Windows9 doesn't appear to be a "valid" type for vSphere 5.5 U2 even though it supports Windows 10 guests.

To this end, I've been able to create a Windows9 guest type by using the Web Client and after doing this I get the following message when trying to run the Customization wizard for this VM in either the Web Client or .NET client:

After changing the Guest OS Version to Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit), I am able to customize the deployment:

According to this link: http://partnerweb.vmware.com/programs/guestOS/guest-os-customization-matrix.pdf it appears that the Guest OS Customization for Windows 10 is only supported from vCenter 5.5.0 U3 and beyond. I'll update my vCenter to 5.5.0 Update 3 to confirm this is the case.
