Upon installation of VMware Tools 10 build-30000743 on a Windows 10 x64 Enterprise guest, the Start Menu and all new UI features become inaccessible via mouse or keyboard shortcut. To be particular, legacy applications remain fully usable; Windows Explorer (launched from the file or from the Taskbar shortcut), Microsoft Office (launched via Windows Explorer or from Taskbar shortcut). The Start menu (which is part of the new Windows 8 and beyond UI does not register when clicked), the new Settings, Notifications window and Edge browser register that you are hovering over them in the GUI, but do not respond to a click action. You can right-click on the Start Menu and get the administrative context menu, but no response from left-click.
This seems to resolve itself after several minutes. The interesting thing is that it targets any element of the new UI specifically.
Downgrading the VMware tools to the most recent version of vSphere 5.5 u2 (all versions) seems to permanently resolve the issue.
