Hi,
As ESXi is slightly different as compared to ESX the collection & storage of support dumps & logs files is slightly different.
In case if ESXi is installed on USB or configured to Boot – from – SAN the log files get stored in a RAM disk (memory). These files will be gone after reboot and it will be very hard to troubleshoot in case of issues. To avoid such situations we can have ESXi server configured to store log files on a persistent storage.
