Why do I change BusLogic to LsiLogic SCSI controller?

Dear all:

After VMware environment health check. The report commands some windows2003 VMs are need to change SCSI controller from BusLogic to LsiLogic.

I am just wondering the reason and is it necessary to change it?

Thank you in advanced.

Coz my ESX environment is ESX3.5U3. The Basic System Administration ESX Server 3.5, ESX Server 3i version 3.5 Virtual Center 2.5 mentions Older guest operating systems default to the BusLogic adapter. The LSI Logic adapter has improved performance, works better with non‐disk SCSI devices, and is included with Windows Server 2003.

I would leave the existing ones alone, as they are working perfectly fine.

On new setups you could select whatever is the reccomend default for your host server and the vm you are deploying.

In practice I have not noticed much performance difference between the two.

On a database server I might change the controller to lsi for the volume mounting the database.
