Why are the connection often failure?

I have set up an ESXi last month. Recently I always got the connection issue as below. I have to restart ESXi service but it gets connection failure again after 30 min. Why the problem happens?

vSphere Client could not connect with the vCenter Server "ESX01".

Details: A connection failure occurred(Unable to connect to the remote server)

DNS configuration is fine? Do you have the entry in the DNS server?

Can you ping the IP of the ESXi?

Which version are you using?

DNS configuration is fine. I restart ESXi service and it works well again, but get connection failed again after about 30 min.

I can't ping the IP of the ESXi once the problem happens.

I am using ESXi 4.0.0.Update01-208167.

BTW, I am using vSphere Client to directly connect to the ESXi.

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1082131.html seems to talk about the ESXi is installed in a VM, but I installed it in a physical mcahine.

Connect all ESXi NICs and the client on the same switch.

If the problem is solved then you have to check the configuration of your switches.

Thanks Andre.

But all ESXi NICs and the client are using the same switch already.

Do you have a hostname in FQDN format?

ESX01 is the hostname? (in this case is not in FQDN)
