Why ESXi do not create same NFS ID as ESX for same Datastore ?

Hello,

In my environment I have both ESX and ESXi (4.0 U2) connected to vCenter (4.1)

I found something strange in my environment which result in a failure to load VMs.

When I create an NFS datastore in ESX, it creates in /vmfs/volumes a link to this datastore with an ID (ie : fabc42ce-b4aa5fac)

When I create an NFS datastore in ESXi, it creates in /vmfs/volumes a link to this datastore with another ID (ie : 45c02564-e2adc9c4)

but in both cases, alias (name of datastore) is identical.

I also use Lab Manager which use linked clone and refer some parent path to VM, but when I deploy from ESX or ESXi, I cannot deploy it and have an error (Requested file "" not found.) because ESX or ESXi refer to different datastore IDs.

Is there a way to get same Ids for the same datastore created in either ESX or ESXi ? aliases (are the same, but IDs are differents)

Regards

Found, thanks to VMware support Smiley Happy

in fact in ESX datastore where mapped using IP address and in ESXi datastore was created with FQDN.

in ESX/ESXi use "esxcfg-nas -l" command to found out how they were created.
