Which Template was a VM deployed from?

Hi Community,

Hope this is an okay forum for this question.

Is there anyway to know which Template a VM was deployed from?  I've never seen a way to discover this information.

Usually the vm got a name when its created in the host and cluster , and you have to right click it and deploy from it .

That's not it.  We are trying to find a way to know what template was used to deploy a VM. In other words, assume you were not the one who deployed the VM and you have no idea what template was used- how would you know what template was used?  Or, is there know way to know that? Thanks

If the VM was cloned in the last few months, you might be able to check the events for the cloned VM:
