Which NIC will ESXI host use when joining AD?

Which NIC will ESXI host use when joining AD?

I have a Domain Controller on ESXI host and I want ESXI to join the AD? Do I need to create a vmkernel for the goal?

Hi welcome to the communities,

it will use the management network, which uses vmk0 as default, no need to create a new vmkernel.

So look up which vmnic is connected to vmk0 in your installation.

Regards

Tim

Hello,

Everything depends on the network infrastructure that have assembled in the company.

If you have 2 types of networks one for service and other network servers for backup, you must put the service VLANs where the AD.
