When is this major bug in ESXi going to be fixed?

ESXi 6.5 was released a year ago. ESXi 6.5 Update 1 was released 4 months ago. This bug still persists which is one of the reasons we have not upgraded

This is to be fixed n ESXi 6.5P02 which is scheduled for December 15th.  I have been experiencing the same issue and was provided a temporary hotfix. I am looking forward to P02 as a permanent solution.

Release dates are always subject to change. As well releases are published within USA time. Maybe later this evening this patch will appear.
