What raid card should I get

this is my first server Im getting up and running, on a home project for myself. I just picked up four Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s and the server only has a PCI card in it. what raid controller would you recommend I use to get the best transfer rate out of drives I can with what I have.

Attached I have a copy of my exansion card, to verify that it actually is PCI and not any other card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Ryan M.

Welcome to the comunities.

I think what you have is a PCI-X slot. I don't know that there are new PCI-X cards being released any more so you won't be able to take advantage of the 6GB speeds. I would check with the documentation just to be sure it is PCI-X or post the server name and model.

The HCL will be the best place to find supported controller models. http://vmware.com/go/hcl
