What is the best RAID configuration for fast data writes

I have multiple VM that need to store data what is te best raid configuration to use

on a DL370 G6 1 raid controller (P410i + 1GB Cache) and 16 *130GB10k satadisks

example configuration

Option 1: One raid 5 with all disks and all VM using it

Option 2: For each VM a raid 1+0

Does defining multiple raid’s help Disk I/O performance on a ESXi machine:smileyconfused:

The question is more how does ESXi and/or the hardware perform when multiple VM's are running using  one or more datastores on one raid controller

so is defining 3 * raid 5 with each 2 Vm's installed better then defining 1 * raid 5 with 6Vm's installed on the same controller

idem for Raid 1+0

is defining 3 * raid 1+0 with each 2 Vm's installed better then defining 1 * raid 1+0 with 6Vm's installed on the same controller

the recomneded method for Creating Raid Array is one VD with Raid 0 for system , and one VD with Raid 5 for intense application usage such oracle DB , and i think ESX does not differs in that
