Weird errors in /var/log/vmkwarning.log after upgrade to esxi 8.0

After upgrade to esxi 8.0, there are tons of errors like this in /var/log/vmkwarning.log

"2022-11-26T17:11:46.444Z Wa(180) vmkwarning: cpu20:2103240)WARNING: cswitch: VSwitchPortEthFRPUpdateInt:5144: [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-esx" subcomp="vswitch" errorCode="ESX3"]Failed to check if PS[vSwitch0] is in Mux mode
2"

This is happening on multiple hosts but this is one:

Hypervisor: VMware ESXi, 8.0.0, 20513097
Model: PowerEdge R540
Processor Type: Intel(R) Xeon(R) Silver 4214 CPU @ 2.20GHz

Any ideas?

Does it affect your performance? Any PSOD? errors?

Doesn't seem to affect performance.....no PSOD...no issues. I just wanted to make sure I have not configured something wrong.

I'm getting the same errors on my system.

Is the hardware on the HCL for ESXi 8?

Hi,

I had checked for my own research and those systems, both, are in HCL for ESXi version 8.0.

Hi @Archparks2,

Let's talk seriously, I checked better, I'm getting the very same "warning message" you reported, where there is a particular reference to "errorCode="ESX3", either by doing a "bare metal" rather than a "nested" deploy, and it doesn't matter whether it's an upgrade or a clean install. In my opinion it is a product defect (code left lying around but should have been removed instead).

So from my very personal point of view in this specific situation the compatibility of our systems with respect to the HCL is irrelevant.

Regards,
Ferdinando
