Weird, NIC is not getting an IP from DHCP but when setting a Static IP works....

Anyone run into this before? granted it's in a LAB environment but this one Win 2012R2 VM is just not cooperating....lol :smileyconfused:

I tried to vMotion it to another hot but same thing. Other VM's, 2008 R2 can get an IP fine as well as setting static works fine. This is the only 2012R2 VM in the LAB.

No "Ghosted" NIC or anything. It's a new Windows VM build.

Thanks

EDIT:

I am using the VMXNET3 NIC.

Figured it. Someone added a range of IP's in DHCP to be "Excluded for distribution" and they used the entire range.....lol

Hey,

Is your DHCP Client services running?  What does restarting the DHCP client do?  What does ipconfig /renew do? does it still come back with 169.x.x.

Also is there a possibility your DHCP pool is full?

I checked the DHCP pool and there is plenty of IP's left.

ipconfig /release  and /renew gets the same thing. So does reboots.

I'm spinning up another 2012r2 build to see if it get's an IP now....

EDIT:

DHCP service is running because the other VM's 2008r2 are getting IP's.
