I know that Dell has the OpenManage Essentials and the vCenter Plugin for monitoring the health status of the Dell servers running ESX, but we are having a lot of trouble getting OpenManage to work reliability (we have installed the VIB for it, and health statuses keep dropping to unknown) and we would prefer to not pay for the vCenter plugin. All I am looking for is to be able to proactively monitor the underlying hardware health status and receive some kind of alert when there is a problem. The health status page in ESXi is pretty good, but I don't know if there is a way to have it send out alerts in case of failure or view the RAID status. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
