'VssSyncStart' operation failed: IDispatch error #8449 (0x80042301)

Hi guys,

I've been attempting to perform an online backup of our VM however continue to receive the above error. After looking this up in the knowledgebase, it states that the issue is either related to excesive I/O or 0 VM space.

Backups did work fine for us until a few weeks ago where VM space may have been an issue. Since then there's now sufficient VM space and the VM resides on a disk with double the I/O capabilities, showing no signs of maxing out, however I'm still unable to take a snapshot whilst the the VM is running.

I've tried the two major solutions of a reboot and a VM Tools reinstall and am out of ideas.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

-You may try to stop any 3rd party applications services running on the vm, may also try to increase some space on the disk and check of VSS errors if windows machine
