Vsphere 5 converter speed?

Hi all, first post, first vm install

I have set up a new dell t410 server with ESXi 5 and a few vm's, one 2008r2 RDS host, one 2003 DC and SQL server and a couple of xp vm's.

One of my targets is an xp desktop, I have the converter running on it but it's  been going for over 24 hours now and reports over 20 hours left, it's only a 40gb drive! Is there a reason this could take so long?

A box with a 100gb drive only took 6 hours, there is no firewall, no antivirus.

Welcome to the Community,

I can't tell you what's wrong with this, but that's definitely not normal. Maybe modifying some converter settings (disable SSL) - as mentioned at Increasing the cloning performance - could speed up the conversion!? This will however require to start the conversion again.

It might be also a mismatch network configuration on source server, check source NIC configuration - duplex (full duplex), speed (Auto)
