hello,
excuse me for the question but it is not clear for me... vmware says that vsphere 4 virtual machines can add usb controllers, but it not support usb pass-through.
QUestion: if i attach an USB drive into the physical vmware machines, can it work into the guest operating system?
Thank you!
Francesco
Don't know if it is SO difficult or not, but ESX does not support USB port mapping yet.

Yes, using VmDirectPath

And it works fine with USB drives?
Tobias, actually you can not attach USB drive such way.
You can attach PCI device to VM via VMDirectPath, like PCI USB controller and connect USB drive to this controller.

Ok, but if, also in ESX 3.5 i can map serial port (ex. for modems), is so difficult for vmware hotplugging usb drives from physical machine to guest machine?
Thank you!
Francesco
