Vram issue

I used the Vmware converter to move a hardware based server 2003 server machine to a virtual esx 4.1 machine.  THe transfer went perfectly fine and then i booted the machine up.  ecerything was working. I then saw the balloon pop up saying that the resolution wasn't optimal so i pressed the button to optimizer it.  now the server won't boot up and this is the error message i get.:

The maximum resolution
of the virtual machine will be limited to
1672x1254. To use the configured maximum
resolution of 2560x1600, increase the amount of
video RAM allocated to this virtual machine by
setting svga.vramSize="16384000" in the virtual
machine's configuration file.

I have tried changing the amount of video memory and it hasn't helped. is there another way to change these setting???  Hopefully someone here can assist me with this issue

THANKS AHEAD OF TIME FOR ANY ASSISTANCE!!!

I have attached a screenshot of what it says

you will have to power off the guest to make these changes... When powered off, edit settings of the guest, highlight the video card and click the radial button to "Auto-detect Settings"

... now the server won't boot up ...

The video ram issue should not prevent the VM from booting!? Doesn't the VM boot at all or does it try to start booting and then stays on a black screen? Please post (attach) the latest vmware.log from the VM's folder.

...and for what it's worth, the message you are getting is more of an informative message

Do you really want the resolution that high?  If I were you, I would knock that down to 1024x768 and call it a day.  If you need to access the machine full screen, just RDP in.  It's always better than the VM Console.

The resolution message is not a fatal error.

Its not booting for some other treason.
