I am running it in my lab, and I know a bunch of customers who are running it in production right now. Not heard about any specific issues related to it. I wouldn't be too worried about u1d if you are already running U1.

we are talking about ESXi 7.0U1d build 17551050, not about VCSA-all-7.0.1-17491101

I found the next solution to upgrade without my.vmware.com downloads:

# Cut and paste these commands into an ESXi shell to update your host with this Imageprofile
# See the Help page for more instructions
#
esxcli network firewall ruleset set -e true -r httpClient
esxcli software profile update -p ESXi-7.0U1d-17551050-standard \
-d https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml
esxcli network firewall ruleset set -e false -r httpClient
#
# Reboot to complete the upgrade

Previously you need to start TSM and TSM-ssh services in host web-ui, or in VCSA via host - configure - Services - SSH

Also you need to download latest Putty client wich works with new host certs
