Vmware ESXi 7.0 Settings changes are not saved after Reboot

Hello

I've installed 2 nodes (Dell T440) with ESXi 7.0 Update 1 from Dell.

Installed on a dual SD card.

Installed, after first reboot I insert the NTP settings and the licenses . Saved.

If I'll reboot the server this customizations are lost.

I've same problems in 2 differents nodes.

Do you have any suggestions ?

My best regards

P

I was able to find a solution over on Reddit r/vmware:

https://www.reddit.com/r/vmware/comments/j92b40/fix_for_usb_booted_esxi_7_hosts_losing_access_to/

Editing the boot.cfg files solved the issue for me.

Hello paolone,

Did you ever find a resolution to this issue? I am having the exact same issue on a Dell R340 and dual SD cards.

I thought it may be the SD cards, bought two new ones with the same results.

Also recreated the virtual volume on the raid controller thinking maybe something was going on there, the same results.

I have noticed that changes will stick on a fresh install of ESXi with no datastore configured. As soon as I create a datastore, changes are no longer saved on a reboot.

Thanks for any guidance.
