VixDiskLib_OpenEx : Fails with fault InvalidRequest, type VmodlVmomiFaultInvalidRequest, reason: (none given), translated to 1)

VDDK version used : VMware VixDiskLib (6.7) Release build-8535999

ESX : VMware ESX, version=6.5.0, build=8294253, option=Release

The VixDiskLib_OpenEx fails to open the disk to read the changes.

Logs show the following:

VixDiskLibVim: VixDiskLibVimFreeInternalVCAboutInfo: Free Internal VC AboutInfo.

VixDiskLib: VixDiskLib_OpenEx: Cannot open disk [Datastore] VM/VM_2.vmdk. Error 1 (Unknown error) at 5439.

VixDiskLib: VixDiskLib_Close: Invalid disk handle. Error 1000 (The handle is not a valid VIX object) at 5666.

VixDiskLibVim: Login failure. Callback error 1 at 3580.

VixDiskLibVim: Failed to find the VM. Error 1 at 3735.

VixDiskLibVim: VixDiskLibVim_FreeNfcTicket: Free NFC ticket..

VixDiskLib: Error occurred when obtaining NFC ticket for [Datastore] VM/VM_2.vmdk. Error 1 (Unknown error) (fault InvalidRequest, type VmodlVmomiFaultInvalidRequest, reason: (none given), translated to 1) at 2480.

VixDiskLib: VixDiskLib_Open: Cannot open disk [Datastore] VM/VM_2.vmdk. Error 1 (Unknown error) at 5483.

VixDiskLibVim: VixDiskLibVim_FreeFileName: Free file name

Call failed for Open. Error Code: VIX_E_FAIL. Error Message: Unknown error.

Also, observed that the ESX shows logs like below in continuous intervals:

With respect to the API calls, the logs found are following:

We are unable to understand the reason for failure. Please help resolve the issue.

There are a lot of NFC Associated issues with the 6.7 Version.

VMware Knowledge Base

Please upgrade to 6.7 U3 and check the Status, This should fix NFC Associated issues.

We did upgrade as per your suggestion to the latest 6.7 U3 and are facing yet the same issue. Smiley Sad

We are still facing the same issue. The failure reason shows as "Unknown error". Can anyone please look at this and help with a resolution?
