Virtualizing System Center Configuration Manager 2012 Beta 2

Hi All,

Does anyone here ever install SCCM latest or previous version in production as Virtual machine ?

I wonder if it is OK to do it in that way as opposed to the Microsoft suggestion in using dedicated physical server considering the read and write traffic into the server ?

Thanks.

I haven't tried yet the last beta, but I've not seen performance problem of running on a VM.

With vSphere this kind of performance issue does not exist.

Yes that's what I thought, I was thinking to deploy the SCCM in the VM while the DB is physical SQL and Windows 2008 server.

Microsoft said that it is not advisable to use as VM but I doubt it 🙂

The official answer will be only when the product go in RTM.

Actually SCE2010 is certified for virtual (using the SVVP program all that is certified for Hyper-V must be certified also for other vSphere):

I'm running the previous version on a VM, including the SQL 2008 DB.

I am using windows 2008 R2 and have not really had any issues (despite Microsoft saying this should not run on a VM)

Will ask around to see if anyone here has the new Beta running on a VM.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .

thanks mate for the clarification, so it is all in one VM (SCCM + SQL Server) or separate VM for each ?

Seperating the VM's wil make any scaling a bit easier I'd have thought ?
